The main window of the Total AdBlock program displays the total number of ads blocked as well as the ability to turn off ad blocking on a particular website (which you may want to do if ad blocking interfers with the website’s functionality). You can switch between them by clicking on small icons in the upper right corner. Clicking the settings cog icon displays all active settings and filters, including the ability to turn on and off ad blocking, customise acceptable ads and configuring the pop-up blocker.
In order to fully customise the ad blocker to your desired settings you need to enable or disable the filters by clicking buttons at their right side. You can block all advertisements on certain websites. The program’s settings screen also offers an option that allows you to enable advertisements on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter etc., by adding them into the URL tab in “Acceptable Ads” section. This is a fine solution if you find that the functionality of your favourite social media sites is affected by ad blocking.
Total AdBlock is a premium product and will cost $2.99 per month or less for the year if paid in advance.
The cost of Ad Blocker Premium is less than most subscription ad blockers but it does not offer as many features. For example, there’s no extra filter lists you can use or an option to block trackers and other ads like SuperBlock Origin, one of my favorite extensions for Chrome. There are also some restrictions on which extensions you can use, but these are very minor.
Total AdBlock is a great software for blocking ads on web pages you are browsing. The program’s functionality can be customized and extended by adding more websites or elements to block, making it very useful in everyday use of the internet. Ad blocker works quickly and efficiently but its biggest downside is that adverts don’t always disappear on the page you are browsing (sometimes they become hidden). It has been created by an excellent team of developers who are constantly working to bring the new features or fix problems with this software, so you should expect frequent updates for it. The extension runs smoothly and doesn’t have any obvious issues, which is an important part of its overall usefulness.
Ad Blocker can be used as a replacement for other ad blockers such as AdGuard or ublock origin since it offers similar features with them at comparable efficiency in blocking ads on web pages you visit while also offering some additional features that can help you protect your privacy on the internet.
